>ever-growing stock market That really didn't age well

What’s funny is that if we had single payer healthcare that person would pay slightly more in taxes but hundreds less in healthcare costs and everyone would be more likely to have some money to invest which is great on multiple levels but the small business guy would probably just tell you that’s socialism and it’ll lead to American gulags.

Corporations: "Give us a big tax cut and we will pass it on to our employees!" Government: "Ok sounds great, heres your tax cut!" Corporations: "Jk were keeping it"

It's so funny how right wing people so often boast about how *they* understand 'the economy', but are equally often so clueless about how money really works on an every day basis.
15 Mar 2018 01:54 - +167
I fucking hate these *Business Bros*, I know more than a few from college. I'll make a critique of the economy or Republican policies and get meathead responses about how I should "start a business" or "market my brand" because that's "what Americans do". You can't even reach these people. Like fuck off, I don't want to start a fucking t-shirt company or some nebulous bullshit *consultancy firm* - my parents aren't bankrolling my *3rd* failed masturbatory fantasy of "hustling the game" or whatever pseudo-philosophical/nonsense market ideal you've grafted over your every waking thought. I want to add societal value with my work, I'd like my efforts to meaningful and interesting - I want my tax dollars to help everyone! These fuckers don't understand that their crumbs could actually help everyone rather than allow themselves to get the *leather steering wheel* or whatever in that shitty over-financed Audi they think makes them look like a success. ...Sorry, that guy's face pissed me off.

Sedate the public with minor tax cuts to avert their gaze from the continually growing class wealth discrepancy.
14 Mar 2018 23:29 - +108
Multi-Level Marketing dupe is the new small business owner, apparently...
14 Mar 2018 23:42 - +58
Look at it this way, whether or not they passed the tax cuts they were going to raise youre insurance premiums, now its just $300 you wouldnt have had otherwise ^^^/s
15 Mar 2018 01:14 - +53
Has....has no one looked at the tax cuts and how they work? Cool you get a slight tax cut for the next what 3 years? Then you pay the same....and then you pay more....
15 Mar 2018 01:25 - +43
Do these people know what the word *innovation* even means? It seems like they only associate it with "less taxes."
15 Mar 2018 00:20 - +30
>so much innovation ...I'm not seeing it
15 Mar 2018 00:38 - +24
Frankly I'm surprised by the number of people who are very focussed on their taxes, while at the same time never giving any thought to what their disposable income will be at the end of the year.
15 Mar 2018 01:15 - +22
Standard frat boy entrepreneur....
15 Mar 2018 02:11 - +15
This guy doesn't even understand how basic securities work. Small businesses are very rarely publicly traded. Only certified investors ($1M+ assets) are allowed to invest in private C corps, and LLCs each have their own operating agreements . The only window for you to get in is through the friends and family round, which even that has strict limits. Small businesses avoid going public because hostile takeovers and having to do tons of reporting for Dodd-Frank. I'm pro Dodd-Frank, because it reigns in large banks, but if there was a reporting threshold of say $1M in assets, the banks would all just start thousands of subsidiaries. Real Estate trusts already do that to save on property taxes. God bless the all seeing SEC, they really look out for the common man. Truly, we live in such a remarkable time for both small businesses and workers, there is just SO much support from above.... /S We're so fucked. Asset growth is exponential, while wage growth is stagnant, and there is so much legal bulwark in place to prevent normal people from even being able to buy early into anything. Neo-fuedalism here we ~~come~~ are. : (

Got $500 back from the State, tuition goes by $1000... you can’t explain that. 🤔🤔🤔
15 Mar 2018 00:10 - +14
Hey, Joey Mannarino would give you -$200 plus the shirt off your back.

I feel like this sub should be called r/LateStageAmericanCapitalism Not meant as an offense
15 Mar 2018 02:41 - +11
This is funny because I just remembered how I got my affordable housing application denied cuz I made " too much" over their single person limit. But then, given their limits and my city, that limit would be working at minimum wage at mcdonalds, while I'm a full time engineer barely surviving. It's like they want to completely get rid of the middle class, I felt full of dread of what's to come within the next 10 years...

Trading paper with other speculators is *NOT* "investing".

In this thread: people who don’t realize the tax break doesn’t affect your 2017 tax return at all.

How to spot a conservative: inability to discern how complicated finances balance out. Hears "lower taxes," has orgasm.
15 Mar 2018 03:36 - +6
Sorry for the ignorant question but what do healthcare insurance premiums have to do with the tax cut? Is there any causation, or correlation, there? Or just two unrelated facts posted together? I understand the message, but don't understand the connection. Was there a new healthcare law passed? Again, pardon my ignorance...

Muh innovation buzzword! I'm a photographer. In the photography world, Canon are copping a lot of flak by photographers and the photography press for a lack of innovation while Sony and Nikon make technically superior cameras. Their CEO says it's their strategy: >"This is now an era when latecomer manufacturers stand to gain". In other words, let others pay for the RnD and we will get by on our massive brand power (they are number one), adopting newer tech much later when it's cheaper so our profit margins are higher and we spend less on RnD. Our users can eat shit, and our shareholders can eat truffles. They charge through the nose for their cameras, too. Top dollar for old tech... Capitalist innovation. What does this guy think innovation means for a small business? He sounds like one of those people that buys crap from China and sells it on eBay and Amazon. Innovation!
15 Mar 2018 02:48 - +4
Why is it that conservative tax cuts always end up being more costly for the majority of society (if not directly in taxes, in the loss of services)
15 Mar 2018 03:19 - +4
"resist" your tax cut? Sounds like a foreign account.
15 Mar 2018 02:49 - +4
I work 60 hours a week, and I still owe the state I live in $133. Fuck the government.
15 Mar 2018 02:14 - +4
Pro Democrat post in LateStageCapitalism? Whoa.
15 Mar 2018 03:14 - +4
By no means a trump fan, but blaming a rise in premiums on the current administration is ironic and untrue.
15 Mar 2018 03:24 - +3
I presume anyone who believes small businesses are getting significant tax breaks has never owned anything in their lives.
15 Mar 2018 04:01 - +3
So I guess the only thing that's trickled down over the last 30 years is the conservative IQ.
15 Mar 2018 04:20 - +3
The government already took capitalism away from us. There is no such thing as late stage capitalism.
15 Mar 2018 04:15 - +3
I know some folks that are happy they aren't fined for not buying medical insurance anymore.
15 Mar 2018 03:07 - +3
So gulag for him right?
15 Mar 2018 02:32 - +3
Late stage capitalism.
15 Mar 2018 01:44 - +3
But but but meh taxes!
15 Mar 2018 02:27 - +3
My health insurance didn't go up and my tax cut did cut me back some $$ so... i guess i'm on the lucky end of things :o

His premiums went up because of the Affordable care act. Doesn’t quite fit his agenda smh.
15 Mar 2018 03:07 - +2
My insurance premiums went up 125% last year and my asthma inhaler is no longer covered. But yay? I got an extra $150 on my tax return.
15 Mar 2018 02:11 - +2
Funny how many people think that tax cuts are the solution to everything. And don't get me started on the Austrians
15 Mar 2018 02:35 - +2
15 Mar 2018 02:34 - +2
Did he respond?
15 Mar 2018 01:31 - +2
Why the instant labelling in every discussion? It's maddening.
15 Mar 2018 04:12 - +1
Let’s be real though... My insurance premium has tripled since the affordable care act was made law. Personally I’d rather have single payer and pay higher taxes to pay for it than have to go through private companies.
